About Us

Moved by the plight of the orphan and destitute children (girl child) in need of love and affection & someone to call their own, Late Shri Satish Almadi took the initiative and led to establish Bal Sadan in the year 1992. His vision enshrined the objective of the upliftment of orphans, destitute and socially neglected children and bring them back to mainstream of society. This involved providing them boarding, lodging, Education or Vocational training & ultimately settling them in life by organizing their marriages. His aim was to provide a safe and congenial atmosphere, to provide them with education so that such children become self-reliant and empowered. He was working under motive of ‘Service to human is service to God’. He made this idea a goal for himself and started working on this mission.

His journey started with opening an orphanage, Bal Sadan, a home for orphan and destitute children, in a rented accommodation of a single room accommodating 3 children and a ‘House mother’. In the beginning, he provided the necessary items, ration, utensil, etc. with his own resources. Initially, he faced a lot of difficulties but despite his physical ailment, his determination and dedication towards his aim was unbelievable. This work was not so easy. Many people disheartened and discouraged him, but he was resolute to take the Sadan to the new heights. His mother Mrs. Tulsi Rani always stood by him as a rock and encouraged him to continue working towards his mission. This encouragement gave him a boost to move forward and challenge the difficulties.

Later, few other like-minded people started joining the movement. In the duration of one year, some prestigious personalities of society like Sh. H K Khosla (Retd. Engineer in Chief), Sh. K N Gulati (Retd. General Manager HMT), Businessmen Sh. Gurinder Singh, Sh. Alok Jain, Sh. DD Pathak, Sh. Sunil Kumar, joined the organization as Life members. His mother, Mrs. Tulsi Rani, Brother Sh. Krishan Almadi, Shri Arun Almadi and his sister Mrs. Sunita (Kirti) Khanna were already part of the organization. In 1993, Bal Sadan was registered as a society under the registration of Societies Act, 1860. The registration of Bal Sadan was not a mere formality but a momentous step to provided recognition to the organization. The list of first Governing body of the Bal Sadan is as under:

As the donation started trickling in and the number of children increased, the Sadan was shifted from a single room to bigger accommodation and ultimately to its own house at Haripur, Sector 4, Panchkula. Later, with the help of some social activists and people of political arena, a plot of 2 Kanal was allotted to the Bal Sadan in Sector 12-A and in the year 2000, children were shifted to its own triple storey building. Thus, from a humble beginning, Bal Sadan has taken firm roots. This has been possible with the joint efforts of all stakeholders, voluntary management teams, dedicated staff, generous donations and caring individuals who have contributed in their own way.

Bal Sadan is extending support to children of two types. First, the children below the age of 18 and staying within the premises of Sadan with orders of Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Panchkula, a quasi-judicial authority appointed by the Govt. of Haryana, to take decision about the admission and relieving of a child in need of care. The number of children staying within premises has been in the range of 03 to 41 at various points of time who are being provided boarding, lodging and education. Second, are those who have attained the age of 18 and relieved by the CWC, Panchkula. At least 10 ex students of 18+, who are midway to their career, are being provided boarding/lodging outside the premises of the Sadan. The Sadan provides financial assistance for their education, higher studies, professional qualifications and later gets them married under the rehabilitation programme of the Bal Sadan.  It is also pertinent to mention here that for children below 18, the Govt. of Haryana provides a meager amount of Rs. 3000/- per month under the Mission Vatsalya scheme and for children above 18 under rehabilitation programme, Sadan must manage through its own resources.
